EuroBasket 2015 kicks off Saturday with Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder playing for the German national team.
Germany will compete in Group B of the Olympic qualifying tournament with Iceland, Turkey, Spain, Serbia and Italy. Group B will be in Berlin for pool play. The tournament will be played in France, Croatia, Germany and Latvia.

Following group play, the elimination rounds move to Lille, France on Sept. 12. The tournament concludes with the championship game on Sept. 20.
The top two finishers in the 24-team tournament qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. The next five finishers advance to the Olympic qualifying tournament in July.
Schroder credits his time last year with the German national team for the significant strides he made last season for the Hawks.
The FIBA Americas tournament, another Olympic qualifier, is currently being contested in Mexico. Hawks assistant Kenny Atkinson serving as the head coach of the Dominican Republic national team. The Dominican Republic completed play in Group A with a 2-2 record and advanced to the second round with wins over Panama and Uruguay and losses to Mexico and Brazil. Group play concludes today with the elimination rounds begin Sunday. The championship game will be played Sept. 12.
