CLEVELAND – It’s the next man up for the Hawks without Kyle Korver the remainder of the postseason. It starts with Game 3 tonight in Cleveland and the Hawks trailing the Eastern Conference finals 2-0.
I asked Cavaliers coach David Blatt how the Hawks are different without their starting shooting guard and how he might adjust his game plan. He gave away no secrets but said this:
“Obviously, Kyle has a very particular skill set. He is very impactful player for them. How exactly are they different? Of course the obvious is he is a shooter of the highest level and a guy they work well and hard for to get shots. He works very hard to get shots which puts pressure on your defense. He is also a very smart player. He is a guy who can catch-and-read, helps very quickly and if he has to drop it off or make an extra pass because he has drawn players to him, he does and will willingly. Also, he has a certain stature in that team, a veteran experienced All-Star player who obviously is part of the fabric of that team. Certainly him not being there is a significant thing. It doesn’t guarantee us anything.”
