OKLAHOMA CITY — Sorry for this being late and short but Mike Scott news broke late.
Use this quote from Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer on trying to slow Thunder All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook for your game thread.
“He is just such a combination of speed and force and strength. The way he attacks the basket, he is elite. He is one of the best, if not the best, at attacking and getting to the free-throw line. Trying to find a way to keep him in front of you, trying to keep him from getting to full speed where he is at his best or most effective. That is the challenge with the great players. They are great at getting to what they are great at. It’s easy to talk about keeping him in front of you, easy to talk about showing him a crowd, but then you have to go out and put in the effort and the time. Guys are looking forward to trying to contain him if possible.”
Budenholzer said DeMarre Carroll will also get some time guarding Westbrook.
“We’ll probably throw everybody at Russell,” Budenholzer said. “It can be something to maybe give us a chance. DeMarre is like that, he can guard multiple positions.”
