Even with the Pelicans front court that features 7-foot Omer Asik and 6-10 Anthony Davis, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said he doesn’t expect to alter his rotation at the center position. That means that Al Horford will be backed up primarily by Pero Antic. Elton Brand and Mike Muscala will be available but remain deep on the bench.
“Elton is always ready and Muscala is always ready and sometimes we might throw them in there but I don’t think tonight is not a unique or different night,” Budenholzer said.
Budenholzer still likes the mobility of his frontcourt rotation in regard to Davis, who is second in the NBA in scoring and seventh in rebounding.
“Hopefully we have bigs who give us a chance to guard somebody like that with their mobility because it will definitely be tested,” Budenholzer said.
* With Thabo Sefolosha out for a second game with flu-like symptoms, Budenholzer wouldn’t reveal too much about how is bench rotation might chance. He was Shelvin Mack would play a little more and he might go deeper into his bench (read a few minutes for Kent Bazemore).
* The Pelicans will alter their starting lineup with the loss of Eric Gordon. Austin Rivers will start. The Pelicans started Darius Miller in their last game, a loss to the Kings, but coach Monty Williams said he did not like the production from the unit.
